Love You Long Time

So Brooke is taking this folklore class and its about like the study of people's culture, music, clothing, art and little traditions they do. Anyway she had to do an interview and she asked about something in my life that I had heard or said that was a tradition or custom. Kind of hard to explain. So I told her about our language that we have. You know how we say things and no one seems to understand or everyone takes literally. Well this is the report that she wrote from it. I was just laughing so hard I don't even get it. I though it would be fun for everyone to have so we can remember it when we are old!

- “that’s normal:” used when something is out of the ordinary, sarcastic, ironic term to describe something out of the ordinary or cultural unacceptable
- “fun:” used as an adjective for the words “weird” or “unenjoyable”
- “oh my….” Said in a high pitched tone to describe a feeling of disbelief. Gradually morphed into just “oooh…”
- “is that normal:” used when wanting to ask, “don’t you think that weird?”
- “what does that mean?:” question to raise awareness of a strange situation
- “Somehow:” used to soften the blow of something that is hard to say. Ex: “Somehow… I forgot to get that money I owe you.”
- “I get so confused:” Used to say that you think someone is veering from a social
norm
- “remember when:” used right in the moment of something happening
- “sucked off the horse:” Driving to California and Britney was driving. There were 2 vans close by that she was getting annoyed by. She said that van just sucked me off the horse. It means someone ruined your plans or something
- “that hurts me”- used when something is stressful
- “I don’t even get it”- something you do get
